Greetings from your webmaster!

I have been asked to provide direction on how to post entries to blogs. So, here we go....

  1. First, make sure you are registered for an account on this site.
  2. Then, make sure you are logged in.
  3. Look at the Main Menu on the left. Note that a new choice has appeared: "Submit Articles and Class Notes".
  4. Choose "Submit Articles and Class Notes".
  5. An editor opens and you may begin writing.
  • A word of caution: occasionally your connection could go down in the middle of writing your blog input. Save yourself lots of headache and heartache by simply writing up your content in a text editor, like notepad, and the copying and pasting it into this editor window.
  • The reason you would want to use a text editor is because editors like WordPad and MS Word apply formatting to the text. You can copy and paste but you discover there are a few difficulties making the transition. On the button bar at the top of your editing window, see the little clipboards. One has a W and the a T. I have not been as happy with this copy/paste function as I would like but I have had good luck with the other. If you want to draft in MS Word in order to take advantage of spellchecker/grammar checkers then you can do so. When ready, just copy and paste your work into this little clipboard and then insert it into this editor.
  1. When you are done editing your text, consider adding pictures. You may use either the button at the bottom of the editor or the little button on the button bar that has a little picture of a framed tree. Both are functional. Please be sure you are not uploading copyrighted images or images larger than 200k with 72dpp.
  2. Check out Zemanta. You can add links to related stories on the Internet or use a picture or two provided by Zemanta.
  3. Continue to scroll down and you will see a block labeled "Publishing". Choose the Section labeled "Student Blogs" and the Catefory labeled with your last name.
  4. Show on Front Page? NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!
  5. Author Alias: that's you. Put your first name, your last, or both. Or even a nickname.
  6. Choose a publication date
  7. Choose an end date for ending publication: "Never" (minus the quotes, of course.)
  8. Set the access level at "Public".
  9. The next block is where you will put in a short description of this post. One or two short sentences using keywords.
  10. In the Keywords block, put in keywords pertaining to this post. These keywords should be words that are in both your description (see previous item) and in the opening paragraphs of your post. Remember, repeated keywords will tell search engines that these are more relevant than a keyword that is not used.
  11. Scroll back up to the top and choose "Save".

That's it. While it may seem complicated at first, you will be an expert at it in no time at all. Happy Blogging!
